A wonderful place for us to rest and recharge our batteries with plenty of opportunities for walking or eating out ( although a well-equipped kitchen gave us a choice)

Jackie was very welcoming, helpful and had lots of invaluable local knowledge. The cottage was super clean, very cosy and in a great location. I will definitely stay here again.

Old Jack's Cottage was just as described and more. It is set in the most beautiful little harbour. Sitting outside at the front, in the sunshine was fabulous. Every time we walked out of the front door with our dog, we would meet such friendly people. We had a lovely meal at the Cod and Lobster with fabulous sea views. The cottage was cosy and had everything we needed for our stay. We absolutely loved it!

Lovely weekend away. The cottage was exactly as described, small but great location and everything you need for a stay in Staithes. Parking outside was a bonus, and you’re only 2 mins walk away from the centre of Staithes across the bridge. Great pubs. Great walking. We’ll definitely use it again if it’s available.

We had a wonderful weekend in Jackie's cottage for our anniversary. The cottage was clean and tidy, and very cosy. I loved how it was decorated! You have everything you need for a self-catering trip. The views are amazing and it's right on the harbour. Communication from Jackie, and Rebecca, the housekeeper, was clear and friendly. I'd absolutely recommend this place for a relaxed weekend away!

The cottage is gorgeous. Small, beautiful & fitted out in keeping with its age but also with luxurious modern fixtures. The kitchen is so cute & has a great feel about it. It has everything you need to be comfortable. It’s so nice to be supplied with little extras to make life more comfy e.g tea bags, coffee, sugar, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, and a special thank you for the cake!!
The lounge has a fabulous real fire that has a brilliant draw, so lighting it is easy. The tv is a great size and has Netflix!
A choice of lovely lamps is always a bonus. Upstairs the bed is REALLY comfortable and the bed linen is good quality. Double electric sockets next to each side of the bed is always a bonus.
The bathroom is fabulous - a huge walk in shower, a great washbasin and taps and towel rail. Good quality towels. Luxury soap!Things like this make such a difference. Rebecca is a credit to you Jackie, and you have been more than kind to us also. A big thank you for all you do x

Old jacks cottage was idealistic it had everything we needed .The location was perfect. I loved opening up the beautiful window looking out on boats and Quaint old cottages .The shops are just across a small bridge with places to eat pubs ,old sweet shops it was a very special place

Very cosy cottage great views we loved sitting on the bench at the front of the cottage with a glass of wine taking in the sea views and Jackie was a great host answering all our questions promptly

Lovely cottage

Thank you for sharing your very warm, cosy and homely cottage in the picturesque village of Staithes. Loved waking up to the sound of the seagulls and looking down to the sea.

We absolutely loved our stay. The cottage was just like the photos and must be the best view of Staithes you could ask for. So peaceful to sit out on the front bench with a morning coffee, taking in the beautiful view of the quaint cottages and sea view, or a drink in the evening as the sunsets. 5mins walk for breakfast at Dotty’s tearoom (and a couple of other cafes) and evening drinks and food at either the Cod and Lobster and The Royal George Hotel. A really short walk away and you can be up on the cliff with spectacular views (both short circular walks and longer versions). I recommend buying some logs for the fire as the cottage is so cosy on an evening. We will be staying again.

This cottage has an amazing location in Staithes with fantastic views. Inside the cottage is snug and cosy - especially with the fire lit - and well equipped. Communication by the hosts and Rebecca, the housekeeper was excellent. We enjoyed walks to Whitby and Saltburn along the Cleveland Way, making use of the regular bus service to the top of Staithes. It was perfect for our anniversary break. Thank you!

Lovely, captures days of years gone by…. But with all the amenities of a modern functional bathroom and kitchen ,without spoiling the old fashioned element of the cottage . Nice to make and sit infront of a real fire , which adds to the cosy atmosphere….. we like sitting on the bench outside to have a cuppa and breakfast listening to the seagulls and drinking in the wonderful veiws

Old Jack's is absolutely adorable. We loved our stay! It is quiet. The sea is near as is the little town. On a rainy day, we were quite content to stay put by a cozy fire. We ventured down to the sea, across the footbridge to explore the town, and up on the cliffs for lovely long walks along Cleveland Way. We hope to return to this ideal vacation destination.

This cottage was absolutely perfect—set in the most stunning surroundings with beautiful views in every direction. The cottage was incredibly comfortable and welcoming, a true home away from home. Just a short stroll across the bridge into Staithes, it offered easy access to the sea and charming village life. We loved watching the tide from the bench on the front steps and exploring the many scenic local walks. Everything about our stay was peaceful, picturesque, and unforgettable.

An amazing cottage to stay in. fantastic views from the bedroom of the harbour and Beckside. Everything was as stated, the fire was a cosy extra. loved our stay so much, we hope very much to return another time.

An absolute gem of a find, this cottage overlooking the beck and the beautiful harbour! The cottage is lovely and comfortable, great history to this 17th century fisherman's cottage. As always, Staithes is stunning. Jackie has been incredibly responsive and helpful to any questions we had. Highly recommend Jackie's cottage. We certainly will be back!

This is a great place to stay...in the old town right by the harbour but a pedestrian bridge away, so that it's a bit quieter. The cottage itself is exactly as shown in the photos, spotlessly clean and comfortable. It's close to the beach and clifftop walks including the Cleveland Way. There's parking outside the cottage with guest permit provided (parking in the main part of the old town is non-existent).Jackie was a great host who was always ready to help. I would stay again.

Had a lovely stay at Fisherman’s cottage. Had everything we needed and was the perfect location for a half term get away!

This is a unique ancient cottage at the very heart of this incredibly beautiful village. We were happily surprised that the village was not busy and we were able to interact with the very friendly locals and staff in both pubs, the museum and neighbours. We felt very welcome at all times.
The fisherman’s cottage is on a steep hill which we feel would be very difficult for someone with limited mobility. However the parking permit included in the stay enables you to park right outside.
We had a wonderful stay and Rebecca the caretaker was VERY helpful.
We really enjoyed eating in The Cod & Lobster pub twice, their sea food menu was fantastic!
We are certain we will return to this cosy cottage very soon.

Loved our stay in Old Jack’s Cottage. It was cosy, quirky, and full of character. Our dog loved lying in front of the open fire in the evenings. Great base to explore Staithes and the surrounding countryside. Beautiful to watch the sunrise in the morning and the ever changing tides. Thank you to Jackie who was very responsive for any queries we had.

Booked a weekend away at Old Jack’s cottage for our anniversary. It was the perfect spot. Cottage was cozy and clean, with tasteful traditional interior. Location ideal as it’s just off the beaten path where most people and noise are in town. Gorgeous views from both windows.

Great place to stay, to get away from it all. lovely cottage to allow you to get back to basics. Great for a romantic break. Very nice village.

I must congratulate Jackie for keeping the cottage so quaint and unspoilt. My Grandma used to live there and it still had the cosy feeling that was always there. Jackie was knowledgeable and we had family and friends in common and she also checked that I was warm and comfortable. I believe I have made a friend in Jackie and am sure we will have lot's more conversations when I come back to stay in the summer. Thank you Jackie, I had a wonderful peaceful time.

Old Jacks is brilliantly situated on Cowbar. The views from the bench at the front are amazing. A very peaceful setting. The cottage is very quaint and has everything you need for a few days away. Just a short walk across the footbridge and you are right in the village of Staithes where there a two pubs, a lovely vintage tea rooms and several shops and galleries. From here other places such as Whitby and Saltburn are easily accessable. We will definitely be coming to Staithes again and hopefully this cottage

exactly like the description and photo. lovely cosy, well equipped,clean and comfortable cottage. instructions re access and parking very helpful. Everything had been thought about from parking permit, wine glasses, hand-wash,baco foil and even hot water bottles. The heaters were super efficient and we really enjoyed the open fire. we pre booked meals at The George and the Cod and Lobster prior to our stay and they didn't disappoint. Highly recommend a stay at Fisherman's cottage. Becky the housekeeper is an absolute star!

I booked this stay as a Christmas present for my parents and they had a lovely time at the cottage. Jackie made the booking really easy and gave me all the information they’d need. The cottage is lovely with beautiful views and really close to everything you’d need in the village. They’ll be booking again soon!

Very cute cottage, full of character! My husband and I enjoyed waking up to gorgeous views and sounds. The place was clean and instructions were helpful. Food nearby is amazing, so that was a plus.
Parking is not as convenient as we thought since the cottages are on a slope and could definitely be a little challenging if there are multiple luggage pieces.

We love the traditional nostalgic feel of the cottage with excellent access in and out of the village. We are planning to return. Fabulous host and very helpful.

Lovely place to stay with friendly neighbors and locals.
Easy walk into main part of Staithes and to pubs, coffee bars etc. The local Co-Op on the edge of Staithes has all the supplies you need and easy to get to.
Jackie was really responsive in all comms and it was a pleasure to stay at her place.

Everyone was really friendly when your walking around- the local bars and pubs have amazing food .

Great for Staithes. Very quiet and quite a lot closed but enough for us. Small cottage but everything’s there. Good communication with host and housekeeper made everything straight forward. Would consider staying there again

A lovely few days away staying in this cottage. The location is excellent with a short walk to the shops, beach and pubs. The cottage was perfect for a couple and the pup. would love to book another stay here.

This is a great little cottage in a great location. We enjoyed cliff top walks on the Cleveland Way and also the friendly welcome and good food at the Cod and Lobster pub across the bridge.

Great little place, superb location

This is a fabulous, cosy cottage in an absolutely stunning location. Jackie is a fantastic host who gives extremely useful information about the local area and makes guests feel very welcome. Will definitely stay here again.

Jackie’s place is absolutely delightful. We felt at home the minute we walked through the door. The view from each of the windows is breathtaking. The cottage was beautifully clean and well equipped. The ambience was really unique - it felt las if we had time travelled to another era, but had kept all mod cons to make our stay comfortable. We are already planning our return trip as we have fallen in love with Staithes and Jackie’s place too!

We had a wonderful time at Old Jack's Cottage, so peaceful and cosy. It was perfect for the two of us and our small spaniel - we loved sitting outside watching the world go by. I haven't slept so well in months and didn't want to leave. Jackie is a fantastic host and really made us feel welcome.

Cosy cottage in a lovely fishing village with lots of clifftop walks on your doorstep.

Amazing! lovely cottage with everything that we needed in a perfect location. We had a great time. Jackie was quick to respond to all our questions.
Lots of things to do in the area, for all ages. it seemed like a safe place for children to wander within close eye of their parents.
if (when) I visit again, I will remember my binoculars (were they dolphins swimming out at sea?) my fishing rod (mackerel being caught off the harbour wall) and will buy a fossil hammer. so many great things to do and a beautiful area for walking 🩵

We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay at Fisherman's Cottage. The view from the cottage are probably the best in Staines, looking over the Beck and out to sea.
And the open fire was a real treat on the one cold evening that we had. Also, parking is very easy too.

The cottage is absolutely tiny but very cosy and comfortable. Very warm & clean. Amazing location!
A few treats on arrival would put it up a level - even just some milk.
Otherwise all lovely and enjoyable.

We stayed three nights and found it comfortable and convenient for visiting Staithes,.
We had thick sea fog on one day so driving out was interesting!
We cooked our main meals in the evenings. Shopping in the bottom end of Staithes is limited but we had brought food with us.
It is a quaint cottage and the stairs were a bit of a challenge for our old knees but we managed!
Lovely to watch the tides and the river flow, especially after torrential rain. Walked to the beach, around the two breakwaters and dropped a donation into the RNLI. A must do visit is to the Staithes Museum, full of local history especially Captain Cook who took his apprenticeship in Staithes, it is run by lovely local volunteers and just a 5 minute walk away…. Free entry but please make a donation to help with their bills.

A scenic and most delightful place to stay in.

We had the most fabulous stay at the cottage. super comfortable bed ,So quirky and the original features . Super photos, We enjoyed reading up about the whole history. Jackie was super helpful and recommended places to go. It’s a beautiful place to visit and we would love to return in the winter, Lots of seagulls which added to the experience and fantastic views to wake up to

Tiny cottage, full of character. Great location with wonderful views of the harbour. Peaceful and serene the perfect spot to sketch or just sit and watch the tide come in and go out. The cottage was well equipped and an open fire was a bonus. We certainly enjoyed curling up by the fire with a book and a glass of wine. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day.

Great stay exploring North Yorkshire in a cosy cottage with great use of space to provide everything you need.

Cosy, tastefully decorated little cottage with a stunning view. Check in was really easy, although parking on the steep hill was a bit exciting, the instructions were clear. The cottage was well appointed with everything we needed for a cosy autumn weekend, walking the costal paths and exploring the delightful village of Staithes. Plus the mattress on the bed was one of the comfiest I have ever slept on!

Jackie is very helpful and friendly and gave good local advice and accommodation instructions. Definitely somewhere we'll revisit.

This is a truly quaint and lovely cottage within a enviable position in the village.

Jackie’s place was perfect for a long weekend, the location was amazing with beautiful views onto the harbour. Lots of lovely walks and pubs to visit in the local area. The cottage was small, but cosy and we loved the log fire in the living room! We’d love to come back in the summer months.

The parking spot felt like a real luxury and we slept like logs. Jackie is a great host, everything was straightforward and we loved the old time charm of both the cottage and Staithes. Highly recommend.

Got to say there are only a few places I have been that have made me sad when I leave and this is one of them. The place and everything to do with it is stunning I love it. Jackie is amazing everything was spot on we already booking again and hopefully again after that. Gorgeous cottage - we’ve stayed in many places in staithes and this was one of our favourites. Lovely views and a cosy set up inside. We bought our baby and there’s a good amount of room for a travel cot. Really convenient that you can park outside as well.

Jackie’s place is one of the favorite places I’ve ever stayed, and I’ve traveled a lot all over the world. I can’t say enough about the location, and the little town. It truly feels like you’re stepping back in time. I’m an artist and film maker, and have been working on a film and needed a space to be quiet and write, and this cottage could not have been more perfect. It is so, so quiet, I slept so well while I was there. Just so charming. Jackie and Max and her team were ever so helpful, not only while I was there, but for quite a while beforehand helping me to figure out trains and things how to get there from London. I loved it so much here that I hope to go back once a year for a retreat. It was chilly, and each night I lit a fire in the fireplace and curled up with books and my writing, and felt like I was in Heaven. Thanks so much Jackie for everything.

Lovely cottage which suited our needs. We stayed for three nights but unfortunately the weather wasn’t kind to us - or to anyone! However this didn’t affect us having an enjoyable stay in the cottage.

Having stayed at the Fisherman's cottages on previous occasions, we were familiar with what to expect. Always to a very high standard and excellent for that short break. We both absolutely love Staithes and find its tranquillity captivating.
The price hike seemed a little excessive hence the lower rating but we both needed a reset and paid the piper. Also, we were disappointed with the recent negative Yorkshire Life article about the village but that has no detraction on what Jackie and the team offer.

Another excellent stay and we look forwards to our next one in the future. We would always highly recommend Jackie's Fisherman's Cottages. Cheers

A very unique and special little cottage in a stunning location with a beautiful aspect. The accommodation was very clean and extremely well equipped. I would recommend.

A truly wonderful place to stay. Perfect! The location is incredible and cottage magical. Thoroughly recommend lighting the fire for a cosy evening. Hosts are really responsive, check in easy and pre-arrival communications spot on to help you find the cottage. If you get the sunshine whilst you’re there, sit outside on the bench and drink in the most stunning views. I didn’t want to leave.

I would highly recommend staying at No 4 Fisherman’s cottage. The cottage is welcoming and well presented. There is a parking space outside the property which was perfect for unloading and loading our belongings and the dog and unusual in staithes as most visitors have to park some distance away up a steep hill.
The bench outside the cottage is perfect for watching the world go by and a lovely spot to enjoy breakfast or a drink in the evening.
The local area is super friendly and extremely dog friendly.
The cottage is beautifully clean and has everything you need for your stay.
Lots of local walks to enjoy, and plenty of benches for a rest.
Highly recommend Dotty’s vintage team room for breakfast and beautiful scones.
Bed is comfy and warm and additional bedding is available if needed. Bathroom has plenty of space and a good shower.
The view from the bedroom and living room are such a treat to wake up to.
Honestly, a truly restful and calming place for a break away. Highly recommend

Beautiful weekend spent in this picturesque cottage! The view from the cottage was spectacular my little boy was so excited to see the boats when he looked out of the window upstairs!

Lovely accommodation in a great location. Great base to explore local coastline and surrounds. Cottage has everything needed. A 2 minute walk to amenities, beach and local pubs.

A place that should have a warning that you won’t want to leave.. such a beautiful,charming cottage in the most idyllic of locations. The Cod and Lobster was an added bonus. Can not recommend highly enough ⭐️

We had a wonderful time in Old Jacks Cottage in a cold November stay!
Taking advantage of the open fire at night was definitely a good choice and made the stay more atmospheric to the surroundings in this old coastal town.
Staithes is small and beautiful, lovely to walk around with very steep hill climbs or a bracing walk on the Cowbar where you can look out to the North Sea and see Dogger Bank. Or on the beach on the other side of the inlet and sit and watch the moon over the water from the benches then head into the Cod & Lobster for a warming bevvy or hearty Cod and Chips!
Betsy and Bo’s sell lovely food and treats to take back to devour by the fire in the evening before or after a walk listening to the water in the beck or the roar of the sea.
Old Jacks is delightfully higgledy piggledy in nature, lots of things are on a slope and sometimes different ones so you almost can feel like being in a boat bobbing in the beck at times.
We hope to return to lovely Staithes one day.

What a fantastic cottage, small and perfectly formed, and bursting with character.

The location was perfect, just a short hop over the footbridge to the village, and the bench in the front garden is the perfect spot to watch the world go by.

Excellent communication from Jackie from the start helped make it a perfect place to stay.

We had a well needed lovely three night stay at Old Jacks cottage. It’s exactly what we had envisioned a compact, cosy yet well thought out cottage with an open fire and beautiful views.
Staithes is stunning, we walked the coastlines during the day, ate in the local pubs and then went back to the cottage to play cards by the fire! Perfect! Thank you ✨

A lovely few days away staying in this cottage. The location is excellent with a short walk to the shops, beach and pubs. The cottage was perfect for a couple and the pup. would love to book another stay here.

My partner and I adored our stay at Old Jack's. We were keen to visit the sea and loved the retained authenticity of the fisherman's cottage. We ended up caught in the middle of a storm, but had amazing atmospheric views of the sea just around the corner, and cafes, pubs and the independent convenience store just minutes away. The cottage remained cozy and warm despite the weather, and it was especially lovely to come home and relax by the fire. My partner commented that it was the cleanest and tidiest place she'd ever stayed! We will definitely return to this perfect little getaway spot.

An absolutely beautiful cottage in a stunning location. It's the perfect place for a little break or longer get-away. The cottage is small, very cute and authentic, we loved it! The hosts were very helpful and easy to communicate with throughout the booking process, our stay and after. This is the most charming fishing cottage, it is just gorgeous and you feel instantly at home. The views are stunning and it is perfectly located for the village. It is just a couple of minutes walk across the bridge to the village centre. We loved an open fire ever evening when we got home from the pub . The sofa is very comfortable, the cottage although small, is the perfect for two and a real get away, away from the stresses of city life. We parked outside the house which is ideal. The cottage gets the sun in the morning which is lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will return.
